Terms in alphabetical order
You can find all terms available in Geo-glossary, apart from the names of species (which are in alphabetical order anyway), in a list. A click on a term leads you to the page where it appears. To find the term on this page you can use the search-funktion of the browser (see Need help to find a term?).
Key to the symbols
[...] commentary example: outlet [from a lake]
(...) addition (can as well be left out) example: saline (lake)
...,... terms with the same meaning example: glacier snout, glacier front
.../... alternative expression as a part of the term example: post-glacial age / period
[bo] [ny] Comment: Norway has two official languages, Nynorsk and Bokmål. When norwegian terms differ in these languages, it is marked. example: lausmasse [ny], løsmasse [bo]
...-, ... part of a word that appears two times, but is only written once example: Parabel-, Sicheldüne
(= Parabeldüne, Sicheldüne)
One term in more than one category?
I have tried to assign each term to a fitting category. Nevertheless it is possible that a term fits for more than one category, especially when they are closely related to each other, like e. g. geomorphology and glaciology. So if you don't find what you're looking for , try a related category!
If you are of the opinion that a term should absolutely be in another category, send a message to Geo-Woerterbuch@gmx.net
Need help to find a term?
For searching the pages of Geo-glossary online for a term or a part of a term the search-funktion of the browser can be used.The funktion can be reached like this:

NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR: Edit -> ?
OPERA: Edit -> Find...
INTERNET EXPLORER: Edit -> ?

Not sure what the categories mean?
When you are moving the mouse over the Fragezeichen-Symbol there will appear a short explanation of the topic (does not work with OPERA, works fine with INTERNET EXPLORER).
